Books — Helpful, Insightful, Inspiring, Supportive
I believe that we need the Bible and a relationship with Jesus to know how to walk with God and to have answers for all of life’s problems, including how to raise our children. I also believe that God told elders to train younger people. He doesn’t expect us to reinvent the wheel when we have examples and their writings to learn from. Besides these books, I was blessed to have many friends that had already raised their children past the stage mine were in that gave me incredible advice.
There are tons of books that have helped me, to say nothing of the many wise men and women that have offered advice when I’ve been smart enough to ask and humble enough to know that I need help. Here are just a few of my all-time favorites:
A Family Focus
I love Focus on the Family and the books by James Dobson and others that they recommend. Here are just a couple.
More Helpful Parenting Books
More books that were helpful for both me and my husband.
Dealing with Dyslexia
Missionary Stories
or anything else by Amy Carmichael (all her stories are great)
