I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that God chose you specifically to raise your specific child/children. He didn’t choose me, or your sister, or some expert. He chose YOU because you are the BEST Mommy on this planet to raise the life or lives He has placed in your home (whether by birth, adoption, or fostering). He promised that is the truth. Philippians 4:19And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I love that verse! It tells me that God will give me the wisdom I need and the helps I need and the patience, etc. to raise my children (as does James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.)

But, oh what a glorious realization and how freeing for me when I realized that this promise is to our children also. One day, your children will be hit with the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and they will believe on Him and that will give them the power to be made the children of God. His promises are to those children, after but also before their birth into His family. He gave them exactly what they needed. He gave them the exact parents they need. Even when we feel like we have failed them, God is still faithful to have placed them in the right home with the right parents. He will give YOU (not me or experts, etc.) the wisdom to raise that child into the man or woman of God that He intended when He knit (Psalm 139:13-16) their parts together in the womb.

Yes, He will place amazing Godly men and women (and their books) in your life to help you find the answers and tried and true suggestions. But, some of those will simply not work for you and your little baby. God wants you to read and research and ask questions – and go to Him. Use the advice that seems good to you. Listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit as you read and search for answers. But remember that if all advice worked, we wouldn’t need to seek God. We’d follow the owner’s manual, and all would turn out easy and successful without glitches– and we would lose out on the privilege to seek – incredibly amazing – and FIND the Living God who created all of the universe and so much more.

This is truly His plan. Not to let that precious baby be simple, and not let parenting be a breeze, but rather to let that precious baby and the hard job of parenting be the path that leads you as you continue into a walk with the MOST High God. WOW! What a gift! What a treasure! Why would such a great God ever care if I loved Him or sought Him? Understanding that is beyond our finite minds! But nevertheless, true. He desires you to seek Him. In that seeking, He is honored and pleased. And in that seeking, we are changed and He is found.

Other than the magnificence of the above, He simply wants you to know that you are unique and not every schedule or plan written about in books will work for you. You are not failing or doing something wrong. You are simply being like me — unique and not fitting into the molds that some babies and some moms fit into. That is not to say they are less than you. It is simply to say that you find strategies that seem to fit your personality and your family’s lifestyle, and then bend them to fit how you feel led. You don’t have to re-invent the wheel. People have worked hard to make things easier for you (and me). Accept that gift, but always keep your heart alert to the Holy Spirit as He guides you in this amazing path!
